A woodland retreat with a range of spatial experiences that open up to the landscape. The design combines contemporary design with vernacular rural architecture. The project was done in two phases with the first one being a single soaring open space with large openings on all four sides. The second phase added a kitchen, master bedroom and a multi-purpose third floor treetop sanctuary with vaulted ceiling. The second phase included wood trim and flooring from trees harvested on the property. It was constructed to minimize energy use with solar panels, super insulation and triple glazed windows.
